The Hartwell Manor[/u]
A 15th century manor house which sits on a sizable track of land near London, England. Strange rumors circulate this place. Local legend holds that the grand English manor was built by a lord who was besotted by a Welsh witch. It is also said that her ghost haunts its halls. The current inhabitants, decedents of the original owner, take the legend and rumors good naturally most of the time turning it to their advantage whenever tourists take an interest in the manor. Most people quickly dismiss the bizarre gatherings of cloaked figures or the large canine sightings reported now and then or the mysterious howls that drift through the wooded land around the estate. It's easier to convince yourself that monsters don't exist even when they're standing right before your eyes...
The brick manor house itself is a 12 bedroom building and sits on more then 18 acres. The ground include a restored three-bedroom carriage house, a six car garage, a cottage and a green house. It also has a banquet-sized formal dining room, a kitchen with a butler's pantry and a grand entry foyer as well as a library. While the immediate lawn and gardens around the manor are manicured and well attended, the wood land surrounding the estate is left overgrown and to its natural devices. Many tourists, locals, and odd traveler are often welcomed within the manor, a few even stay as a guest for a couple of days.
History[/u]
The Hartwell family was established in Wales, near the turn of the 12th century. From the journals of a traveling monk who became enamored with the female matriarch and coven high priestess, it is said the family came into being through mystical rites. A marauding band of vikings had destroyed the village and the lone survivor was a young woman, she sought the help of the spirits to aid her in her revenge. One such spirit or demon, some say, heard her plea and granted her the power to do so in return she would bare its child into the world. The spirit itself was a great wolf, granting the power of its form and strength to the woman who came upon the band of vikings and destroyed them. Nine months later she gave birth to twins. A daughter and a son, the daughter retained her mothers mystical powers and the son was given the gifts of its ephemeral father.
The twins were the progenitors of two powerful bloodlines, the Hartwell witches and the Blaidd Drwg clan. During the early times the family and the clan lived together, thrived together, it was not inconceivable for cousins to marry keeping the mystical linage strong but others still married and sired children outside the family, effectively thinning the blood line. Dierdre, the head of the hartwell coven, began to except outsiders who displayed the similar abilities. Her brother, Caden, however did not agree with his sister. The two fought constantly, the conflict seeding dislike and distrust among the clan and family. Finally, Caden's own granddaughter who was to take his place broke with the Hartwell family, taking the Blaidd Drwg to the new colonies across the Atlantic Ocean. What would later become America. For a short time the two bloodlines kept in contact with one another but harsh feelings persisted and soon all contact was lost. The two families drifted apart.
Decedents of both bloodlines had forgotten about the other until a few years ago. The patriarch of the Hartwell family, London, received a letter from the States from this lost branch of the family. Curious, he began to research the truth behind the claims. Recently he discovered some old journals documenting the werewolves who share the family heritage. After years of hatred and centuries of silence, London decided to meet with the alpha of the werewolf clan in America. It seems the meeting was a success because he has welcomed them back to the manor, rejoining the Hartwell Coven and the Blaidd Drwg Clan.
