Name: Thomas Brandt
Race: Human Bard
Age: 23
Slim with a perpetual youthful, sometimes almost childish apperance, made all the more noticable by an unruly mess of reddish hair that seems to always have a mind of it's own. Most of his clothes are second hand, some getting a bit threadbare in places. To find him without some form of musical instrument, be it a harmonica in his pocket, his cheap, second hand accoustic guitar, or especially his antique, and very well cared for Welsh harp.
History:
The story of Thomas Brandt is a strange, and unpleasant tale. Orphaned early in life by a train wreck, he grew up in the care of an uncle, who lived the life of a transient entertainer, traveling across europe in the summers from faire to faire, returning to Glasgow Scotland for the winters. At first things went well, for Thomas imediatley began to show aptitude for music, learning the harp by the age of seven, but soon showed an aptitude for the familly traits of magic through music as well. At first this made for some good, and profitable times for them, as a talented child caught the attention fo fair goers, holding it long enough for them to get caught up in the simple spells of good feeling, that as often as not left them dropping coins, and even bills in the open case. However, as Thomas' skills grew, they soon outstripped those of his Uncle and teacher, who grew both greedy, and envious, and it was not long before his uncle, who had no small talent as a Bard himself tried to take control over the youth's mind and to use him, and his powers for his own gains. Unfortunatley, even at the tender age of 13, Thoms' mind was too well trained, and the spell of control only partially took hold, leaving Thomas in part aware of what was being done. Angered and feeling betrayed, he managed to break free to some degree, and ran with nothing but the clothes on his back, and his harp. For a time he wandered the cities of Northern England and Scotland, playing on street corners, and litterally singing for his supper at times until he met with a young woman, who captured his heart, and he in turn spent his time, and talents helping her recover from a lifetime of abuses, and drug addictions. Unfortunatley his help came too late, for unknown to them both the damage had been done, in the form of a tainted needle, and HIV. He remained with her until the end, but when she left the world behind, he fled once more, headed south to London, he never made it, finding himself at the Hartwell mansion instead, where by strange twists of fate, he began to live again.
Powers and talents:
a Bard in the truest sense, he has a keen ear for music, and can, given time, play almost any instrument he gets his hands on. He has considerable empathic talents, being able to sense the emotions of others, and even influence their feelings. To completley alter a persons feelings and thoughts however requires a focus, ussually music to work. He can also use music, and is voice to hypnotize, though the effectivness varies radically from person to person.
